NYC is considering suing to stop Texas from sending migrant buses to NYC

🚌Multiple buses full of brand new immigrants from Texas who asked for status at the US Border from Mexico have been arriving in the city for the past several weeks. Mayor Adams also discussed the idea of using cruise ships to house migrants who have been entering city homeless shelters by the thousands.

👨‍👩‍👧‍👦The City of New York was unprepared for the thousands of new immigrants and has no place to house them at the moment. At least 11,000 migrants have entered the city’s homeless shelters since May, including 2,500 who arrived on buses chartered by Abbott — leading Adams to declare the shelters at their “breaking point.”

☝Texas began sending migrants to NYC and Martha’s Vineyard, DC and other cities friendly to immigrants since August 5, 2022, but prior to that, the immigrants were coming in on their own, especially since May this year. City Hall said last week that about 13,600 migrants had gone through the intake process for the shelter system since May. That put Texas Gov’s Abbott’s responsibility for the influx at 19.9% of the total tally.
