New Alien Registration Requirement Effective April 11, 2025 – What You Need to Know (Form G-325R)

Starting April 11, 2025, the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) will enforce a new rule requiring certain noncitizens in the United States for 30 days or more to officially register their presence using Form G-325R (Biographic Information – Registration). This new requirement applies to individuals who have not been assigned an Alien Registration Number (A-Number).

The Trump administration states that this rule supports the Alien Registration Requirement under the Immigration and Nationality Act (INA). Federal courts have upheld the administration’s authority to implement this program, so it is expected to remain in effect.

Anyone who does not comply may face penalties, including fines of up to $5,000, up to six months in jail, or both.
