Short answer
The O-1 is a temporary, nonimmigrant visa. It lets foreign talents with extraordinary ability or achievement come to the U.S. to work.
Who it is for
The O-1 is for people who have shown recognition for outstanding ability in science, research, arts, education, business or sports.
Two categories
- O-1A: extraordinary ability in the sciences, education, business or athletics. It does not cover the arts or the motion picture and television industry.
- O-1B: extraordinary ability in the arts, or extraordinary achievement in the motion picture or TV industry.
The O-1 is also called the Talented Workers Visa or Extraordinary Ability Visa.
