Immigration news. 24-month EXTENSION ON GREEN CARD

Immigration news update! People who file I751 Petitions to remove conditions on two-year green cards and receive 10-year green cards will now have a 24-month extension of their status given automatically when filing the I 751 petition.

This is to give extra time because of the long waiting times for I-751 processing.

When somebody got a green card through marriage, he or she has to file for a 10-year green card, it’s called the removal of conditions (the first green card is given for 2 years only). Up until now, when they filed for removal of conditions, they received a letter that their two-year conditional green card status is automatically extended by 18 months. Uscis just changed that rule. Instead of 18 months, they will now give 24 months.

People can use that as evidence of their status when traveling and for their jobs.
