Effective Immediately: Medical Exam Validity Now Tied to Your Immigration Case
On June 11, 2025, USCIS announced that any Form I‑693 (Report of Medical Examination and Vaccination Record) signed by a civil surgeon on or after November 1, 2023, will no longer be valid indefinitely—even if it was previously valid under the two-year rule.
Under the new policy, Form I‑693 will only remain valid as long as your Form I‑485 (Green Card application) is pending. If USCIS denies or administratively closes your case, your I‑693 also expires—even if it hasn’t reached the two-year mark.
💡What You Need to Know:
- Only applies to I‑693s signed on or after Nov. 1, 2023.
- If your I‑485 is denied or withdrawn, you’ll need a new I‑693 when you reapply.
- The goal is to align medical review with active cases and prevent fraud or misuse.
✅Tip for Applicants: File your I‑485 and I‑693 close together. If your medical is already in, monitor your case closely to avoid delays or an expired form.
