On January 20, 2025, President Donald Trump signed several executive orders starting the promised crackdown on immigration.

Here are the historic Executive Orders:

 2. Resumption of Border Wall Construction: Ordered the immediate continuation of building the U.S.-Mexico border wall to enhance border security.

 3. Reinstatement of the “Remain in Mexico” Policy: Directed the reimplementation of the policy requiring asylum seekers to wait in Mexico during U.S. immigration proceedings.

 4. Ending Birthright Citizenship: Issued an order to end automatic citizenship for children born in the U.S. to a mother without status or on a visa, when the father does not have residence or citizenship.

 5. Deployment of Military to the Southern Border: Declared a national emergency and deployed U.S. troops to the southern border to assist with immigration enforcement.

 6. Designation of Cartels and Gangs as Terrorist Organizations: Moved to classify certain foreign criminal organizations, including drug cartels, as terrorist groups to enhance enforcement measures.

 7. Cancellation of CBP One Appointments: Immediately canceled all appointments scheduled through the CBP One app, which had been used by migrants to seek entry into the U.S.

 8. Mass Deportations in Sanctuary Cities: Instructed Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) to plan increased arrests and deportations in cities that do not cooperate with federal immigration enforcement.

 9. Halting Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DEI) Programs: Signed an order to end DEI initiatives within federal agencies, affecting immigration-related programs.

 10. Reinstatement of Pre-2015 Gender Definitions: Issued an order recognizing only two genders, impacting immigration policies related to gender identity.

The ACLU has already posted that they plan to file a lawsuit to contest Trump’s attempt to end birthright citizenship guaranteed by the 14th amendment of the US Constitution.
