New Alien Registration Requirement Effective April 11, 2025 – What you Need to Know

Starting April 11, 2025, the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) is rolling out a new rule requiring certain noncitizens in the U.S. for 30 days or more to officially register their presence using Form G-325R (Biographic Information – Registration). This new requirement applies to those who haven’t yet been assigned an Alien Registration Number (A-Number).

According to the Trump administration, this new rule upholds enforcement of the Alien Registration Requirement under the Immigration and Nationality Act (INA).  The federal courts have upheld Trump Administration’s right to implement this program, so it is here to stay!

Anyone who doesn’t comply could potentially face serious consequences—fines up to $5,000, up to six months in jail, or both.
